Stir-fry is one of my favorite things to make (and of course, eat!). Making your own stir-fry sauce is both easy and much healthier than store-bought options, since YOU are in control of the ingredients. Below is the recipe that I often use; make it to your liking, by adding 2 to 3 thinly sliced scallions, sriracha sauce, sesame seeds, etc. So many options!
Ingredients:
- 1 c chicken stock (unsalted, if you are using home-made stock or low-sodium if you are using store-bought stock)
- ½ c water
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/8 c brown sugar
- 1-2 TBSP fresh, minced ginger
- 2 ½ TBSP soy sauce
- 1 ½ TBSP cornstarch
- freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 TBSP sesame oil
Directions:
In a small saucepan, heat the oil over low-medium heat; add the garlic and ginger. Sauté for 1-2 minutes. Add all remaining ingredients and heat until thickened, whisking often.
